Grenoble, France

This one-off Grenoble edition (August 25, 1944) was for American combat troops advancing through southern France after the Dragoon landings. Staff from Stars and Stripes and the 45th Division News improvised it because the regular paper’s mobile units weren’t printing in the area yet. It has no staff list. The only credited contributors are Bill Mauldin (the “Up Front” cartoon) and Jacqueline May, whose welcome piece was reprinted from the Resistance paper Les Allobroges.
