Gruppenkommandeur Hauptmann Hackl, Träger des Eichenlaubs zum Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes, ruft, gerade vom Feindflug zurückgekehrt, den Männern vom Bodenpersonal die freudige Nachricht zu Zwei viermotorige Boeings und eine Thunderbolt sind die heutige Ausbeute wie er dem Kriegsberichter lakonisch erklärte. Doubletten sind bei diesem tapferen Offizier keine Seltenheit. Insgesamt schoß Hauptmann Hackl 140 Gegner ab.

Group commander Captain Hackl, recipient of the Oak Leaves to the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, shouts the good news to the men from the ground staff, having just returned from an enemy flight. Two four-engine Boeings and a Thunderbolt are today’s haul, as he laconically explained to the war correspondent. Duplicates are not uncommon for this brave officer. In total, Captain Hackl shot down 140 enemies.
