The Marie-Richard was attack over England by British night-fighters, a supplementary tank being set on fire. With its bath-tub and fuselage enveloped in flames the Ju 88 appeared to be lost. The pilot, however, pressed away in a steep dive and thus extinguished the blaze. After this dangerous incident the dive-bomber returned safely to its airport. Of the heavy tank there only remained the shot-up ring, which is now kept by the crew as a souvenir.
