This reproduction has been obtained as the result of numerous requests for copies of photographs and information pertaining to my trip to the Buchenwald Concentration Camp near Weimar, Germany. The information contained in this open letter, which I wrote home, was obtained from personal observation, discussing the matter with a number of officers who entered the Camp at an early date and from personal interviews with inmates. Most of the information has been confirmed verbally through more than one source—but it is to be understood that it is subject to some discrepancies and the views and observations are mine and in no way whatsoever should be construed as an official expression of the U S Army.
