Description
This is the unit history of the 3186th Signal Service Battalion: activated 15 May 1944 at Camp Edison, Fort Monmouth, N.J., it trained as a radio-relay communications unit, deployed to England in December 1944, then crossed to France in March 1945, splitting into detachments that supported major Allied headquarters (SHAEF, Seventh U.S. Army, CONAD, Twelfth Army Group) across the European Theater. It was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel John B. Stout.
