The Bounce was the official newspaper of the 83rd Infantry Division, published weekly for the entertainment of the division’s soldiers as an activity of the Special Service Office (a Camp Newspaper Service member). Its front-page masthead motto: “When they hit the ground, they bounce!” Its editorial page quoted Gen. John J. Pershing: “Give me a thousand soldiers who are entertained, rather than ten thousand who have had no entertainment.”
