The 29 Palms Air Academy was a World War II military flight training facility located at Condor Field in Twentynine Palms, California. Operating between 1942 and 1943, the academy served as part of the Seventeenth Army Air Forces Flying Training Detachment, providing pilot training during the critical early years of American involvement in the war. Over the course of its operation, the facility trained more than 1,600 pilots, contributing to the massive expansion of American air power that would prove decisive in both the Pacific and European theaters.
