Everett Dillard CTM of Copperhill, Tenn., has a drink of water from a clean cup at a hospital in Luzon after he was rescued from Cabanatuan No. 1 by the Rangers. When YANK photographer Sgt. Dick Hanley got this picture, Dillard was still wearing his prison clothes including a battered straw hat. Only new thing he had on was the grin.
