Meet Our Authors

     Lieutenant Allen E. Butler, 184th Infantry, 7th Infantry Division, is a veteran of Kwajalein and Leyte

     Brigadier general Frederick w. castle, Army Air Forces, was killed in action on December 24, 1944, when his B-17 was shot down over Belgium. A graduate of West Point in 1930, he won his wings at Air Corps flying schools, and resigned from the Army in 1934 to enter the business world

     Lieutenant Colonel John M. Finn, Infantry, is the commanding officer, 32d Infantry, 7th Infantry Division, and a veteran of the Division’s battles on Attu, Kwajalein and Leyte. He is a graduate of the Military Academy and wears the Silver Star

     Major M. A. Matthews, Infantry, was the S-2 of the 350th Infantry, 88th Infantry Division, in Italy before being returned to the States where he is now on duty

     Captain Elbert b. O’Keeffe, Infantry, is in Europe with the 134th Infantry, 35th Infantry Division

     Captain Robert W. Stookey, Field Artillery, is with a Field Artillery battalion in an Infantry division in Europe

     Colonel Paul W. Thompson, Corps of Engineers, was wounded on Omaha Beach on D-day. Subsequently he returned to Washington for duty and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his gallantry in action on D-day. Fie is now on duty in Europe. Colonel Thompson has been a Journal author for the past six years. A graduate of West Point, he later won a scholarship which took him to Germany where for a time he trained with the German Army

     Colonel Frederick Bernays Wiener, Judge Advocate General’s Department, is now in the Pacific with Military Government. He has been a Journal author for a number of years and is the author of Military Justice for the Field Soldier

     Lieutenant Colonel R. C. Williams, Jr., Infantry, recently returned from Okinawa where he was a Ground Forces observer. He had been in action in Europe before returning to duty in the States some months ago
