Hamburger Illustrierte

Weekly newspaper from Hamburg. It was first published in 1919. The last independent issue came out on the 2nd of September 1944 (issue nr 35a). It later continued with the title Hamburger Illustrated on the cover page but all the material was an exact copy of the Berliner Illustrierte. This was done to conserve needed war material. However, some of those combined issues had extra inserts inside with Hamburger Illustrierte’s own material (about 8 pages). We are not certain if that was the case for all the issues after the September of 1944. Similar inserts were also used prior to September 1944 … On photo: a crew of a German U-Boot looks over their exploits captured in the newspaper.
